Vote Counting Underway in Kosovo Elections as Early Results Show Vetëvendosje in the Lead
The vote counting process has begun in Kosovo following the closure of polling stations in the parliamentary elections, with early results and exit polls indicating a lead for the ruling party.
According to data from 1,005 ballot boxes counted so far, the Vetëvendosje Movement of Prime Minister Albin Kurti is leading with approximately 43.63%, followed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) with 21.77%, and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) in third place with 18.01%.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) reported that voter turnout by 17:00 stood at around 27.87% to 29%, representing a noticeable decrease compared to the previous parliamentary elections held in 2025, when turnout at the same time was approximately 39%, marking a drop of around 10 percentage points.
Shortly after polling ended, preliminary exit polls also began to emerge, showing consistent trends. At 20:25, results from more than 1,000 counted ballot boxes placed Vetëvendosje at 41.24%, with PDK at 21.93%, and LDK at 18.08%.
Earlier exit polls at 19:05 suggested a similar pattern, giving Vetëvendosje around 42%, PDK 21.6%, and LDK 17%.
Officials say the counting process is ongoing, and final results are expected once all ballots are processed.
