Wanted for Murder Attempt, Albanian Detained in Greece
The State Police, in cooperation with their Greek counterparts, have managed to finalize the arrest of a 38-year-old wanted in Saranda for attempted murder.
The police had announced the search for 38-year-old Enivled Aliaj, who was convicted by the Court of Saranda for attempted murder with a knife of the citizen Dino Majko. Aliaj was put in handcuffs in Corfu as part of the coded operation "The Island".
"Another joint operation with counterparts is finalized, for locating and capturing citizens wanted internationally for crimes against the person.
The coded police operation 'The Island' was finalized as a result of the cooperation between the State Police and the Police of Greece, as well as thanks to the exchange of information between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Athens.
In the framework of continuous cooperation with international partners, with the aim of locating, arresting and extraditing citizens declared internationally wanted for various criminal offenses and as a result of the immediate exchange of information between the State Police and the Police of Greece, on the location of a citizen wanted for crimes against the person, have organized and finalized the coded police operation 'The Island'.
As a result of this operation, the internationally wanted citizen E. A., 38 years old, resident of Saranda, was caught in Corfu, Greece and temporarily arrested, with the aim of extradition to Albania.
For the 38-year-old, the Court of the Judicial District of Sarandë has assigned the security measure 'Arrest in prison', for the criminal offense 'Deliberate murder', which remained an attempt. On 09.04.2022, in neighborhood no. 1, Sarandë, it is suspected that after a momentary conflict, citizen E. A. hit citizen D. M. several times with a cutting tool (knife), in different parts of the body, and caused serious damage to his life and health.
Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Interpol Athens, are continuing the actions for the extradition of the 38-year-old to our country", states the State Police.
