Rezart Taci Declared Wanted, Two Other Arrested for 'Fraud', 'Forgery of Documents'
The Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK) declared wanted this Friday the renown businessman in Albania Rezart Taci, while his two collaborators, Artur Balla and Bledar Lilo have been arrested by police.
Businessman Rezart Taçi has been declared wanted by the police for a fraud and money laundering scheme within a structured criminal group as police also seized EUR 18 million.
With the opening of "Taçi Oil" points, the owner Rezart Taçi, who is labeled in foreign media as "the oil tycoon in Albania", climbed the ladder of success, building deposits in Shengjin and other places. During the time when the head of the Government was former democrat, Sali Berisha he bought ARMO, the oil refining giant in Albania and he turned out to be one of the leading businessmen for fuel.
Later on Taçi bought one of the most important televisions of the time, "TV Alsat".
In 2016, Taçi was arrested in Switzerland by order of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the canton of Geneva in Switzerland, on charges of "fraud", "Forgery of documents" and "Forgery of stamps and seals or forms".
This investigation had started after the report of two companies, one registered in the Panamanian state under the name "Wallis Trading INC" and the Dutch one under the name "Trafigura Beheer Bv", who had a trade agreement with Rezart Taçi's company signed in 2009.
