Police Arrests Two in Drug and Weapons Crackdown Ahead of Tourist Season

Police in the southern Albanian city of Vlora have dismantled three separate cases involving illegal firearm possession and suspected drug distribution, arresting two individuals and seizing weapons, ammunition, and narcotics believed to be intended for sale.

The operation was carried out by officers from the Narcotics Investigation Section in cooperation with the Special Operational Force as part of heightened security measures aimed at maintaining public order during the busy summer tourist season.

Authorities arrested a 33-year-old man identified as T.P., a resident of Vlora with a previous criminal record related to narcotics offenses. During searches of his vehicle and residence, police discovered and confiscated a pistol, a firearm magazine, 44 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, and a quantity of suspected cocaine divided into individual doses, allegedly prepared for distribution.

In a separate case, police detained an 18-year-old resident of Vlora, identified as A.C., in the coastal village of Dhërmi. Officers reportedly found him in possession of quantities of suspected cocaine and cannabis. Preliminary investigations suggest the drugs were intended for distribution in the coastal area and throughout the city of Vlora.

Police said inspections and enforcement operations are continuing across the region, with a particular focus on combating illegal activities during the peak summer season.

The case files have been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Vlora for further legal proceedings.
