Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal maritime accident in Ksamil Bay as 20-year-old Albiano Kreci, who is believed to have been operating a personal watercraft at the time of the collision.

According to preliminary information, the young man’s jet ski collided with a vessel belonging to the Saranda Border Police while navigating the waters of Ksamil Bay.

The impact left Kreci with severe injuries. Emergency responders transported him to a hospital by ambulance, but he later succumbed to his wounds despite medical efforts to save his life.

Officials said the watercraft operated by the victim sank following the collision.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, including the sequence of events that led to the crash.

The fatal accident has raised renewed concerns over maritime safety during the busy summer season along Albania’s southern coastline, where recreational marine traffic increases significantly.
