Problems with Wealth and Corruption, Judge Dervishi Discharged

Independent Qualification Commission (IQC) discharged on Monday the Shkodra’s Appellate Judge, Luan Dervishi, who was also a candidate for High Judicial Council (HJC).

According to IQC, Dervishi had hidden assets and is involved in corruption.

The hearing with the judge of Shkodra’s Appeal took place on Friday, while the jury was comprised by Etleda Ciftja, Firdes Shuli and Pamela Qirko.

IQC, referring to the data declared by the judge himself in High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets and Conflict of Interests (HIDAACI), stated that the Judge of the Court of Appeal in Shkodra made an incorrect declaration of the property, while from other data provided by the Classified Information Security Directorate (CISD) it was noted that the judge turns out to be involved in corruption.

IQC added that Dervishi has had contact with persons involved in the crime, and possesses a 365 m² co-owned property, in Selita area of Tirana.

In September of this year, Luan Derivishi has run for HJC after vacancy announcement for a position by the Appellate Courts outside Tirana.

He was graduated from the Faculty of Law in 1985 and before being appointed as a judge at the Shkodra Court of Appeal he worked as an inspector at the High Council of Justice.
