Killed His Eight Relatives, Life Imprisonment for Perpetrator
Vlora Court decided this Friday life imprisonment for Ritvan Zykaj, who killed his eight relatives on August 2018.
The 24-year-old perpetrator killed his relatives, as according to him, they had continuously accused him of theft, while he has shown no remorse during court sessions. The victims and the perpetrator lived near each other at Resulaj village of Selenice.
Eight relatives includes Demir Zykaj, 76, his wife Perri Zykaj, 76, his sons Besim Zykaj, 45, and Azem Zykaj, 49, the wives of them Vasilika Zykaj, 40, and Aferdita Zykaj, 47, as well as Besim Zykaj’s children Sara Zykaj, 17, and Ledion Zykaj, 6.
Head of family, Demir Zykaj was the uncle of perpetrator's father, meanwhile, following the massacre he hide in the forests. He decided to surrender only in the following day, after his brother convinced him. Since then, Ritvan Zykaj's family left the village, while the only one who visited the perpetrator in the cell was his brother and it was a very short visit that occurred after 9 months of him being in prison.
