Accused of War Crimes in Kosovo, Serbian Arrested in Hungary

The Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo has confirmed the arrest of a Serb suspected of war crimes. The news was reported by the Kosovar media, which refer to an announcement by the Special Prosecutor's Office. 

The announcement clarifies that the citizen with the initials S.S. participated in war crimes against the civilian population in 1999 in Peja.

BY ORDER OF THE SPECIAL PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE, A PERSON SUSPECTED OF WAR CRIMES IS DETAINED. 

Pristina, October 18, 2022 - The Special Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kosovo (PSRK) announces to the public that in Budapest, Hungary, according to the International Arrest Warrant requested by this prosecutor's office, the person with the initials S.S., of Serbian nationality, has been detained. 

The Special Prosecutor's Office announces that a Decision has been issued to initiate an investigation against S.S. because he is suspected of having actively participated in the commission of criminal offenses related to war crimes in the period from March 26 to May 28, 1999, so that the same participated in the attacks against the Albanian civilian population in the "Kristal" neighbourhood in Pejë, in which case thirty-three (33) people were killed during the attacks carried out in this period of time.??
