Action against Informality of Wages in 2 Sectors
Anti-informality action and improvement of services for taxpayers are two of the main priorities of the tax administration for 2025.
The Director General of Taxes, Ilir Binaj, spoke in an interview for Scan TV about the priorities of the Tax Administration throughout 2025.
Binaj stated that the tax administration aims to increase the quality of tax services and add new electronic services for taxpayers, as well as the action against informality of wages, with a focus on declaring real wages and increasing the payment of contributions for deserved pensions.
He emphasized that, "the tax administration has two main priorities. The first priority is to increase the quality of services to taxpayers. This is very important for us because a good service would mean better fiscal compliance by taxpayers, they would understand fiscal legislation more correctly and in this way we would have an increase in more accurate declarations and higher payments regarding various taxes”.
While he added that the other priority is wage informality. The action against wage informality will continue during 2025. This is in relation to the objective to review and increase the pension scheme. There is still a problem regarding wages, which are not declared as much as they are, but there is an under-declaration of wages. The action that we took had some results, but there is still a lot of work to be done in this sector”.
According to Binaj, the action will focus on two main sectors, where it has been noticed that the problem is higher. “The action against wage informality will continue during 2025 in the function of increasing pensions. In general, we will focus on sectors that have had the greatest growth in the last three months, which are construction and tourism, so there will be more detailed sectoral plans in these sectors to have a better and stronger response to salaries, as it is known that the salaries of employees in this sector are much higher than what they declare in the system," said Binaj.
