Albania Temporarily Bans Electric Scooters

Albania has temporary banned all the circulation of the electric scooters starting this Monday.

The decision was taken by the Ministry of Interior in collaboation with the State Police after many accidents caused due to the unapropriate use of them on the streets.

'I asked today to the General Director of Police to not allow the circulation of the electric scooters anymore' informed Minister, Albana Kociu.

Electric scooters were banned until new rules are in place, while private e-scooters are illegal on public roads in the UK and NSW, Australia, though some rental e-scooters are permitted in approved areas. Other locations like Melbourne and Paris have banned e-scooter rentals.

Meanwhile the General Director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, said that during 2024, were registered 991 accidents due to electric scooters, including fatalities.
