Albania Has Proven Real Friend of Hebrews; Israel
Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs Omer Yankelevich acknowledged Wednesday that Albania has showed it is truly a friend of the Hebrews with the way it has treated and helped them.
Yankelevich made the statement during the Inaugural 2020 Balkans Forum against Anti-Semitism, in which she also called on authorities of other countries to follow Albania’s example when it comes to Hebrews.
Besides, the Diaspora Minister congratulated the Albanian Parliament for adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) working definition of anti-Semitism.
“The fight against anti-Semitism is very important to all of us. The Ministry of Diaspora of Israel has played a very important role in this. In 2019, we have seen an increase in anti-Semitism. The Great Britain has reported incidents, but so have other countries.
I have talked to the communities, there has been attack on human rights. Anti-Semitism is coming from all directions. From those who deny the existence of Hebrews, their rights, creating these ideologies. This hatred has no room in today's society. As a first step, the global community must set standards to fight anti-Semitism.
I call on all heads of parliaments to be ready to fight this hatred and to fight together for it. The solution must be for all of us. Our Ministry is here as a partner and we intend to work with all of you to defeat this global threat. This is not just a problem for Hebrews, but it is a global problem. We must address this issue alarmingly, we must all rise up against anti-Semitism and any other form of hatred.
Albania has shown it is really a friend of the Jews for the way it has treated them and the security it has given them. All countries should follow the example of Albania in the framework of the hebrews. For this I call on all the authorities in different countriesâ€, pronounced the Israeli Minister Yankelevich.
