Albania Marks Over 100 New Covid-19 Cases, One Death in 24 H
More than 100 new coronavirus cases were recorded in just 24 hours in Albania: from 274 on Thursday, the number went up to 379 today, according to the health authorities. To the deteriorating pandemic situation was added the passing away of a 79-year-old citizen from Elbasan.
Ministry of Health and Social Protection informed Friday that 379 new infections were logged in Albania during the last 24 hours, with Tirana being the most virus-stricken (111 new cases), followed by Lezha (34) and Durres (33).
“5,339 tests were performed, of which positive results were obtained with Covid19, 379 citizens, in the following municipalities: 111 cases in Tirana, 34 cases in Lezha, 33 cases in Durrës, 22 cases in Lushnje, Vlora, 21 cases in Fier, 19 cases in Berat, 17 cases in Kavaja, 15 cases in Shkodra, 14 cases in Elbasan, 11 cases in Saranda, 8 cases in Vau Dejes, Gramsh, 7 cases in Kuçova, 6 cases in Kruja, Kamza, 4 cases in Mat, 3 cases Malësi e Madhe, Kukës, Pogradec, 2 cases in Kurbin, Delvinë, Gjirokastër, 1 case in Fushë-Krujë, Has, Tropojë, Skrapar, Peqin, Konispol.â€, announced the Health Ministry.
For the time being, there are currently 2,091 active COVID19 patients nationwide and 38 patients are receiving specialized hospital treatment at the Infectious Diseases Hospital.
On the bright side, 39 citizens have recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of recovered to 130,588 since the beginning of the epidemic. To make things worse, this number is lower than the day before, when a total of 46 people recovered from the virus throughout Albania.
Considering the not-so-positive coronavirus’s Delta variant outbreak, the Ministry of Health again appeals to citizens to be vaccinated as soon as possible, to protect themselves and their loved ones and to stop the spread of the dangerous virus as August will be open for antiCOVID vaccination for every citizen +18 years old.
“AntiCOVID vaccines reduce the chance of infection and largely avoid hospitalizations and fatalities. If you suspect you may be affected by COVID19 or have signs of the disease, isolate yourself immediately and contact your GP for testing or call the National Emergency number at 127â€, noted the top health office of Albania.
