Albania recorded 1239 new Covid-19 infections and 16 deaths, the highest number of infections and deaths in a single day since the beginning of pandemic, Health Ministry informed.

Health experts urged to people to respect restrictions rules, to wear face masks and avoid crowds as virus is spreading faster than ever. 

"1239 people have tested positive of Covid-19 from 4562 tests done by the public and private hospitals. Most of the cases were identified in Tirana (553), Durres (84), Elbasan (61), Lushnje (58), Kavaje (39), Shkoder and Fier (36)," Health Ministry reported. 

Concerning is the number of death recorded past 24-hours. 16 people have died due to the novel virus nationwide as 471 people are hospitalized in four Covid-19 hospitals. As Ministry reported 32 of those hospitalized are at intensive therapy while 11 people are put on ventilators.

Authorities in Albania are discussing to tighten Covid-19 restrictions as citizens seems not aware of the danger of the situation. The increase in number of new infections started at the end of the January and figures keep growing, hospitalizations also.
