Albania Responds to Case Surge with 10 New Epidemiologists’ Field Teams
Ever-growing number of fresh coronavirus infection have been noted in Albania lately, thus the Ministry of Health has decided approve establishment of 10 more teams of virologists, who will help the country cope with the pandemic situation during the autumn-winter period.
The above information was made known by the Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu as she met with the team of epidemiologists of Tirana that has the main weight of active infection hotbeds in the country.
"We have an increase in the number of infections, mainly in Tirana but also in some other regions of the country, such as Durres, Lezha, Kukes, mainly the northern regions are those which have a more increased number of infections, so we have strengthened the capacities. Apart from the current increase by 30% of the field teams, we will add 10 more teams and we will be able to cope with this first challenge of autumn-winter", said Manastirliu.
Furthermore, she stressed that testing capacities have been increased by 3 times, also among the main priorities are schools, teachers and students, to limit the spread of the infection.
"Tests have increased 3 times compared to June, of course this is thanks to the work done by epidemiologists, increased capacities of the Institute of Public Health, but also field work, because as we have said, testing without tracking and without isolation it would be just a link, but it would not be a rigorous complement to the strategy for limiting the spread of infection", added the Minister of Health.
