Albania will provide free legal aid for those winning the status of the refugee, according to a bill that is expected to be approved this Monday in Parliament. 

This new bill "On asylum in the Republic of Albania", increases the level of cooperation between institutions responsible for asylum in our country. It also provides free legal aid for refugee status recipients. This was stated today by the Minister of Interior Bledi Çuçi during the plenary session, underlining the importance of the adoption of the law on asylum. 

"Just like the countries of the Western Balkans and beyond, Albania is affected by migration flows, which consist of refugees and asylum seekers, migrants, victims of trafficking, unaccompanied and separated minors, as well as stateless persons.

The Republic of Albania already has an asylum system for which more and more work is being done, to approach European standards, realizing the full functioning of the procedures in determining the refugee status for persons seeking asylum," said the Minister.
