Famous poet and filmmaker Petrit Ruka passed away this Tuesday at the age of 67. The news was confirmed by his friends and relatives on social networks. 

Ruka passed away today after a one-year battle with a serious illness. He is the most prominent poet of his generation and one of the best screenwriters and directors in the country. 

Petrit Ruka became famous with the poetic volume "Homeland begins in the heart", which received the national award in 1983. Since then he has published over 10 other volumes of poetry and several dozen screenplays of films, documentaries and monographs. 

Petrit Ruka has taken his place in Albanian literature as one of its best poets. With his departure, Albanian literature loses one of its great sources, which continued to keep Albanian poetry alive. 

His artistic heritage is an immortal anthology that honors the history of our literature and makes it immortal.
