Albanian Origin 500 Kg Drugs Caught in Montenegro

Montenegro authorities have seized Wednesday 500 kilograms of cannabis sativa. The drugs are suspected to have been coming from Albania and were intended to be traded in European Union countries.

The criminal group responsible for the illicit activity consisted of Albanians, responsible for 2.6 tons of cannabis seized on November 3, 2020 in Podgorica. On November, the Albanian citizen, Elvis Çalik, was arrested since he was transporting the drugs together with a load of fruits and vegetables.

At that time, the consignment is suspected to have been destined for Germany. It had entered Albania from Kapshtica and then crossed into Montenegro through Hani i Hotit. Albanian police and prosecutors launched even an investigation into whether the truck passed through the customs.
