Lulzim Basha has reacted for the first time after being elected as chairman of the Democratic Party in Saturday's race against Gjergji Hani. 

During his speech, Basha said that with these elections, the democrats proved that they are capable of another battle for the good of Albania. 

"Dear friends, democrats from all over Albania. First, a heartfelt thank you to all of you, for your perseverance in these difficult and challenging times. Of natural and artificial heat. DP remains the hope of Albanians. 

Thanks to the organizational structures of the DP that organized a model process for the future of Albania. Gratitude to the representatives in the Voting Center and a special thanks to Gjergji Hani, who with the power of his argument, with the purity of his soul, with his dedication to the right, turned this process into a real debate of ideas and values. 

I am aware of the difficult time we have gone through and the challenges facing the DP and the opposition. I know that rivers of mistrust still flow, some real, and some sponsored by those who want to maintain the status quo, who love Albania like this, with media and justice under pressure, without equality before the law. Today marks the start of the work and work begins immediately to build the bridge of cooperation between the two banks of the rivers of distrust. 

Belief in a political project will bring the change of Albanians once and for all. Democrats proved again today that we are able to fight another battle, seemingly impossible, but never unwinnable. Let's start this path without cynicism and malice towards anyone", said Basha. 

We remember that Basha managed to win with 16,196 votes against Gjergji Hani, who received 1,657 votes.
