Businessman Allajbeu Appears at SPAK Over Healthcare Laboratory Concession Probe

Albanian businessman Klodian Allajbeu appeared Tuesday at the offices of the Special Prosecution against Corruption (SPAK) as prosecutors continue investigating the controversial healthcare laboratory concession in the country.

Allajbeu was seen entering the building of the anti-corruption prosecution accompanied by his lawyer. According to media sources, his appearance before the special prosecution comes as part of ongoing investigations related to the concession for laboratory services in Albania’s public healthcare system.

In recent days, investigators from Special Anti-Corruption Structure carried out searches at companies linked to Allajbeu and the American Hospital, as part of the same investigation.

During these searches, authorities reportedly seized documents, mobile phones, computers and other materials considered important to the probe into the concession contract, estimated to be worth more than €100 million. The inspections were conducted at concessionaire companies as well as other entities suspected of having connections to the case.

According to reports, investigators also confiscated Allajbeu’s personal mobile phone during a search. The businessman has since requested that the device be returned to him through the pre-trial judge, Elsa Ulliri.

Further details are expected as prosecutors continue examining the case and reviewing the materials seized during the operation.
