A three-year-old child has died following a serious road accident on the Korçë–Ersekë highway in southeastern Albania, authorities said on Friday.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. near the village of Kamenicë, when a Nissan vehicle driven by a 76-year-old man struck two pedestrians, a mother and her young son, according to preliminary information released by police.

The child suffered severe injuries and was transported to hospital, where he later died. The boy’s mother, a 44-year-old woman identified by police as Sh. M., was also injured in the collision and is receiving medical treatment. Authorities said her condition is stable and she is not believed to be in life-threatening danger.

Police escorted the driver, identified as Sh. V., 76, to the local police station for procedural actions as part of the ongoing investigation.
