"The scale of the investigations followed in this case is unprecedented so far. According to investigations, hundreds of thousands of investors around the world have fallen victim to fraud. The damage caused is calculated at around 50 million euros every three months", says SPAK.
SPAK also said that around 300 computer devices, laptops, usb drives, hard drives, other digital evidence and numerous documents, as well as cryptocurrency wallets with a value of approximately 15,000 USD and 90,000 euros in cash, were seized.
“The suspects posed as middlemen who would help investors earn large sums of money with small investments. In reality, the organized criminal group deceived the victims, gaining their trust on the Internet and professionally setting up call centers, or other ways of so-called social engineering. This encouraged victims to invest through internet platforms controlled by the organized crime group, causing large sums of money to be lost."
