Construction of 223 New Apartments Begins
Work has begun on the construction of 223 new apartments in Kombinat, which will be distributed to beneficiary families as part of the reconstruction program. The program was launched in response to the devastating 6.4 magnitude earthquake on November 26, 2019
Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu was on Tuesday on “Shaban Bardhoshi” Street, where works are underway following the agreement to demolish a building, on whose land the new apartments will be built. "We have started work on the construction of apartments that will be distributed to residents, to whom we have the obligation to guarantee a home after the damage their homes suffered. This has been an early request, but the process has been delayed due to long court proceedings and successive lawsuits. We are talking about two properties with two different claimants in this area, which has made it impossible to start work earlier. The good news is that today we are in a position to demolish this building and, with the release of the square, the way is opened for rapid construction," said Koçiu.
So far, 664 apartments have been distributed according to Koçiu, where the beneficiary families have entered their homes. Meanwhile, another 75 apartments are expected to be distributed in September.
In parallel with the construction of the apartments, interventions will be made to rehabilitate the surrounding infrastructure, with the aim that the area dedicated to the reconstruction process be developed as a modern residential complex, in accordance with standards.
