Coronavirus, Shocking Number of Cases and Victims in Albania

Albania has suffered once more disturbing infection level as 146 citizens have resulted positive with COVID-19 and 6 patients struggling with the disease have passed away. Based on figures released by Health Ministry on Friday, Tirana remains the most affected area with 76 new cases but Kruja, Fier and Durres have registered also upsetting numbers in just 24 hours.

According to the health authorities, the victims are a 62-year-old from Tepelena, a 63-year-old from Lezha, a 70-year-old from Mati and a 73-year-old, an 81-year-old and an 82-year-old from Tirana.

“The geographical distribution of positive daily cases is as follows: 76 cases in Tirana, 23 in Kruja, 11 in Fier, 7 in Durrës, 6 in Kukës, 5 in Elbasan, 4 in Shkodra, 2 cases in each Kurbin, Lezha, Kamza, Malësia e Madhe, 1 case in each Has, Kavaja, Lushnje, Puka, Tepelena, Bulqiza. In the last 24 hours, 79 citizens have recovered, bringing the number of recovered to 3695, since the beginning of the epidemic”, said the Health Ministry.

In the meantime, 115 patients are being treated in both Covid hospitals and 16 are in intensive care, 5 of whom have been intubated.

“We inform you that in the two Covid hospitals, 14 patients who have been positive with Covid19 are still being treated and have currently been healed, however they continue to receive hospital treatment for the consequences of the disease. While patients suspected as affected by the dangerous virus continue to be treated according to the relevant protocols”, revealed the Ministry.
