Deadly Double Shooting in Northern Albania Leaves Husband and Wife Killed
A double shooting left a husband and wife killed in a targeted attack in the village of Balldre, near Lezhë this Sunday.
Victims Kreshnik Mujeci and his wife, Gentjana Mujeci—parents of four children—were traveling in their vehicle when gunmen opened fire, striking the car with more than 30 bullets. Both victims died at the scene.
Authorities say the attack occurred while the vehicle was in motion, suggesting a well-planned ambush. Arben Nasufi, head of the Lezhë Police, confirmed that the car was hit by a barrage of gunfire, leaving it heavily damaged.
Kreshnik Mujeci had a criminal history. In October 2017, he was arrested as a suspect in the killing of Genci Mhillaj in the city of Shkodër. At the time, he faced charges of premeditated murder carried out in cooperation. Reports also indicate that Mujeci had previously been reported to police by his own parents for domestic violence.
Police units have secured the scene and launched an intensive operation to identify and apprehend those responsible.
According to local reporting, the victim had organized a traditional celebration just one day earlier in his home village in honor of Saint Mark, an annual event held near a cross on a nearby mountain.
Footage from the scene shows investigators working to remove the victims’ bodies from the bullet-riddled vehicle, as officers struggled to open its damaged doors.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
