Defense Ministry Reports Five Active Wildfires as 35 Blazes Recorded in 24 Hours
The Defense Ministry said five wildfires remain active across the country after 35 fires were reported in the past 24 hours, as emergency crews and the armed forces continue operations to contain the flames.
Around 382 operational personnel and 40 firefighting vehicles have been deployed, while the Armed Forces are supporting the response with 90 personnel and three Air Force helicopters, the ministry said.
The active fires are located in Dajt near Tirana, Mirdita, Puka, Malësi e Madhe and Gramsh. Three additional fire sites are currently under control.
In Dajt, firefighters and emergency crews are continuing efforts to extinguish the blaze, supported by 30 Armed Forces personnel. Authorities said there is currently no threat to populated areas, while a separate fire in Priska is under control.
In Lufaj, Mirdita, the fire remains active but at low intensity, with crews continuing to work in the area. No residential areas are considered at risk.
The situation has improved in the forested areas of Tërbun in Puka, while fires remain active in Gjegjan and Gojan. One family was evacuated during the operation, with emergency crews preventing the fire from reaching the family’s home. The response is being reinforced by 40 Armed Forces personnel and two helicopters.
In Gjorm i Sipërm, Malësi e Madhe, crews are working to extinguish a fire that has reignited, with two firefighting vehicles and six emergency personnel deployed.
Meanwhile, operations are continuing to isolate and extinguish a fire in Tunjë e Re, Gramsh, with authorities reporting no immediate danger to populated areas.
The fire at Gurë-Lura remains under control following its extinguishment, while crews continue operations at Qafë Helmes, also without a reported threat to residential areas.
The National Civil Protection Agency is continuing to monitor the situation across Albania in coordination with local authorities and other emergency structures.
Authorities said operational teams remain deployed and on standby, with the protection of lives, homes and citizens’ property listed as the main priority.
