DP to Boycott Parliament Session for Second Consecutive Time
Democratic Party (PD) has decided not to participate in Tuesday's parliamentary plenary session, marking its second consecutive boycott of the legislature. The decision was communicated to the party's lawmakers through an internal notice.
"We inform you that tomorrow we will not participate in the plenary session, in accordance with the Parliamentary Group's decision and the position that has already been made public," the notice sent to PD members of parliament stated.
The opposition party also boycotted last week's parliamentary session, maintaining that the demands of anti-government protesters had not been addressed.
The Democratic Party has publicly stated that the protesters' demands should be accepted. Demonstrators have been holding daily protests along the capital's main boulevard for 43 consecutive days, calling for action against the government. The movement has also voiced criticism of the opposition, expressing dissatisfaction not only with the ruling majority but also with the way opposition parties have represented citizens politically.
