Chairman of the Democratic Party in Durrës, Ferdinand Xhaferraj has denounced the manner in which the earthquake funds were distributed by the municipality. 

Xhaferraj mentioned the case of an apartment building in neighborhood No. 1 of Durres city, which according to him has no damage at all, but its inhabitants have benefited funds up to ALL 5 million. Xhaferraj said that in this building live municipal officials and deliberately classified the building with DS3 damage. 

"I am today to denounce another scandal with the abuses of reconstruction funds. The psychological consequences of that trauma the city went through will take time to leave. Government support should have been immediate. But in reality, government support was not only too late but also very corrupt. 

Today we are showing how a building undamaged by the earthquake, located in an area where all Durrës residents know very well that it has withstood the earthquake of November 26 (Neighborhood 1), is classified as DS3. 

I invite you to look at this apartment building. It is immediately clear that the categorization as ‘DS3’ was made only to abuse the reconstruction funds," Xhaferri stressed.
