EU Talks, Albania Initiates Analytical Review Process

Chief negotiator with the EU, Majlinda Dhuka has declared Saturday that Albania has launched the analytical review process and that the country will have a clear overview of when it will join the block at the end of 2023.

During the conference she held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, Dhuka stressed that the process is an excellent opportunity for Albania to transfer the best knowledge from the EU and member countries to build stable institutions.

"Negotiations are a process with political will from the member countries but also with a technical essence. The process is an excellent opportunity for Albania to transfer the best knowledge from the EU and member countries to build stable institutions, a developed market economy and that is approaching the EU market.

We have started the analytical review process, at the end of 2023 we will have a clarity agreed with the European Commission on the stage of Albania's approximation and all the recommendations that must be fulfilled during the negotiation process.

At the end of 2023, I will share a clear overview of where the country is in relation to the EC, and how quickly we will move towards membership. Regardless of this, during the negotiation process we are working on areas, areas in which we get closer to the EU before we are full members.

These are fields related to education, energy, services, governance, recognition of the rights of Albanian citizens who are in EU countries. Our focus is to create opportunities for citizens and the Albanian economy before we become full members and in the meantime we advance with the technical essence of the negotiations", proclaimed Dhuka.
