EUR 22.6M for Mother Teresa Square Renovation

The Albanian Development Fund (ADF) said on Tuesday it has launched a tender for the renovation of Tirana's Mother Teresa square and construction of an underground parking facility with a total estimated value of Lek 2.08 billion (Euro 22.6 million).

The turnkey contract has a term of 26 months, ADF said in documents for the tender filed with the country's e-procurement portal. Bids can be submitted by October 9.

The Mother Teresa Square, built in 1939, is often used to host major cultural and artistic events.

According to the technical documentation, the aim is for the new functions to be developed mainly underground, limiting the new volumes above the surface and preserving the monumental character and visual relationship of the square with the surrounding historic buildings.
