Ex-Mayor of Lushnja Returns in Prison
Special Court of Appeal has decided to return to prison Fatos Tushe, the former mayor of Lushnja Municipality, a month after he released him from his cell.
Decision announced this Wednesday indicates that the Court of Appeal has found Fatos Tushe guilty of another criminal offense, that of "violation of equality in tenders", in addition to "abuse of duty" in two cases that he was convicted in the court of first instance.
In this way, his sentence has increased from 2.4 to 5 years in prison, but due to the shortened trial, this sentence goes to 3.4 years in prison.
Given that on January 26, 2023, he was released from the cell after the terms of detention had ended and he had served the sentence of the first degree with 2.4 years in prison, now Fatos Tushe will return to the cell where he will suffer for another 1 year.
Fatos Tushe was arrested on July 6, 2021, with his former subordinates, by an operation undertaken by SPAK. He was charged for a tender worth about ALL 24 million for the rehabilitation of an irrigation channel in the villages of Bishkethëm and Bitaj.
This tender was won by a company that had brought the highest offer, but then, the profits and the work were done by another company, owned by businessman Ibrahim Lami. The latter, from what is specified in the file, has close social ties with Tushe, as well as family ties with the businessman who was declared the winner of the tender.
Tushe has been intercepted even while abusing the state's fuel, supplying the cars of his acquaintances, as well as interfering with a residence that was being built without a permit, so that the inspectors did not go for inspection.
Former mayor of Lushnja was dismissed from office on July 7, 2021 by a decision of the Council of Ministers after his arrest.
