Albania's Special Prosecution Against Corruption (SPAK) made public on Friday that former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku was summoned to be formally notified of criminal charges related to procurement procedures under investigation.

In an official statement, SPAK said Balluku was called to appear before prosecutors to be informed of the charges, questioned in connection with the case and served with additional procedural documents.

"In response to your inquiries, Ms. Belinda Balluku was summoned to the Special Prosecution Office to be informed of the charges, which are related to several procurement procedures under investigation; to be questioned regarding the accusations; and to be served with other procedural acts," SPAK said in its statement.

Balluku appeared at SPAK's offices earlier on Friday. She did not make any public statement after leaving the building.

The prosecution office did not provide further details on the specific procurement procedures involved or the exact criminal offenses alleged. The investigation remains ongoing.
