According to sources from the majority, the MP of the Freedom Party in Shkodër, Agron Çela, will join the Socialist Party. 

A few days ago it was learned that MP Çela and the head of the government Edi Rama held a meeting between them where his union with the SP was made official. 

Sources inform that one of the main reasons for abandoning the Freedom Party has to do with his dissatisfaction with the coalition of this political force with the Democratic Party. 

In this way, in the local elections of May 14, MP Çela will support the candidate of the Socialist Party in Shkodër, which, as has been rumored recently, will be Benet Beci. 

With the arrival of Agron Çela, the SP in the Assembly will have 74 MPs and the left coalition together with the PSD (Social Democratic Party) goes to 78 MPs. 

In the May 14 elections in Shkodër, the current mayor Bardh Spahia, who won the mandate in the partial elections of 2022, will face Beci, while it is not yet clear whether Enkelejd Alibeaj's grouping will field a candidate.
