The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, showed the reason why he obstructed Albania's Integration process in 2018, as he said that "the meeting was done with indifference and completely hypocritical". 

 Referring to a possible date of Albania's integration into the European Union, Macron declared that "there is no point in talking about a date".

“It is completely true, in 2018, I was the one who blocked the process because we were coming around. But walking around didn't lead anywhere, a process was happening, the meeting was done with an indifference and completely hypocritical, it was like a bureaucratic magazine, they were told that it will take even longer, that you are in x chapters, you are too far. 

They didn't say anything. At that moment I told them 'this process does not work, it should be more political'. 

It cannot be bureaucratic, where we open chapters because nothing changes for the lives of Albanians, we must say that a new phase of transformations is opening for our country and in this way it will be the commitment and investment of the Europeans. A real reform was made and we will draw all the consequences so that this is tangible. 

We need to gather among the similar and set up a mechanism of respect, I wanted an end to a mechanism that is cold, hypocritical in my opinion, ineffective because I saw that it caused resentment in neighbouring countries. Serbia, for which I have respect, has entered for years and is moving slowly. 

It should be politicized, it should be accompanied by investment and we ourselves in the EU should make reforms. 

We have improved things, we still have a lot in this new era of reunion. To shake the customs and traditions a little, the countries that can, we must move faster. We must invest in this country. 

The date has no meaning, to speak of a date. First, if a democratic accident happens in your country, if you have leaders who come and say 'we don't do any reforms', this goes along with the commitment of the country. The Prime Minister is engaged. It is based on merit. 

The day when a country moves faster, can it be slowed down by crises, it can. The cut off date is against this spirit. I want to emphasize, do not underestimate the importance of the road, do it for yourself", said Macron.
