Heavy Rainfall Floods Coastal City, Leaving Streets Submerged
Heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding in several areas of the coastal city on Tuesday, turning parts of Durres into scenes reminiscent of Venice.
Video footage obtained by Lapsi.al shows streets and businesses overtaken by water, with numerous vehicles left stranded and partially submerged. Authorities evacuated eight families after floodwaters entered their homes.
The flooding has made many roads impassable, forcing residents to find creative ways to move through the city. In one striking scene captured on video, a resident was seen navigating the flooded streets on a surfboard, using a paddle to move forward, while cars remained submerged in the surrounding area.
Emergency services continue to monitor the situation as rainfall persists, and residents are urged to remain cautious in affected neighborhoods.
