Police in Tirana have arrested a 31-year-old Indian national after allegedly finding him on the roof of a house in the Kombinat area in the early hours of August 23, 2026.

According to the case file, Manpreet Nanak Chand Manpreet allegedly climbed onto the roof of a home on Veli Vraniqi Street around midnight, apparently intending to enter through a small roof window and steal valuables.

The homeowner reportedly spotted a figure on the roof at around 11:48 p.m. on August 22 and alerted police. Officers from Tirana’s Police Station No. 6 arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect at approximately 1:10 a.m.

A Tirana court has ordered the suspect to remain in custody after prosecutors requested the security measure, citing an alleged risk that the foreign national could leave Albania. He faces a charge of attempted theft.

According to investigators, the man had also been taken to the same police station two days earlier following a dispute with another citizen, during which he allegedly damaged the person’s car window. He was released while that case was investigated.

The suspect did not make a statement in court, reportedly saying he would testify at a later stage.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and the investigation remains ongoing.
