International Race Opened for Milot-Fier Road's Construction
Minister of Infrastructure Belinda Balluku presented on Tuesday the project for the construction of the Milot-Fier segment, part of the Blue Corridor, for which the international competition has been opened.
At the conference, where Prime Minister Edi Rama was also present, Balluku revealed that the axes will be separated, while there will also be secondary roads for citizens who do not want to pay.
Balluku revealed that the speed allowed on this highway will be up to 130 km/h, adding that with this segment's construction it is intended to have positive impacts such as employment, tourism and trade.
Furthermore, Balluku said that since the highway is segmented, it will give many companies the opportunity to participate in the competition, expressing the belief that it will be successful.
"It was not an easy choice for us. But it would be better to develop it in a second moment. From Milori to Fier, we have decided to segment it. Milot, Thumana, Kashar Lekaj and Rrogozhinë and then Lekaj-Fier will be the component axes.
Construction has started on the Thumane Kashar axis. All segments will maintain the main principles. All segments will be accompanied by a secondary road. The allowed speed on the main toll road will be between 90-130 km. The development of this project has goals. Significant increase in employment, safer driving conditions, lower cost of transport, increased tourism through shorter distances. It will have a significant impact on the country's foreign trade.
We now have a good experience in building road infrastructure. We completed roads that stood on roads.
And this race by being segmented and opening the opportunity for many companies, I am sure that this race will be successful. It is quite a challenging objective, but the government is used to such challenges", she said.
