Kosova Premier Reveals Why Meeting with Vucic Failed

Prime Minister Albin Kurti stressed that the EU's proposal that Kosova should not impose fines and Serbia should not issue KM license plates is unacceptable to him.

Kurti made the statement after an 8-hour meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, mediated by the Head of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell and the EU Envoy for the Kosova-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak.

Prime Minister of Kosova, Albin Kurti, told the media that he hopes that the EU will find the strength to stand behind its proposal for the normalization of relations between Kosova and Serbia, emphasizing that after 8 hours of meetings they have no agreement.

"We cannot become state leaders who deal with license plate issues and do not discuss normalization," Kurti told reporters.

Regarding Serbia ceasing the issuance of license plates, Kurti said that this is not acceptable for them if it is not accompanied by what they have been invited to for the complete normalization of relations.

High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, has stated that he expects Kosova to suspend the fines that plans to impose on drivers of vehicles with illegal license plates, while he has asked Serbia to suspend the issuance of these license plates.
