Kosovo-UK Sign Agreement for Joint Military Missions

Kosovo and the United Kingdom have signed a joint declaration for joint landings of the forces of both countries in military missions outside these two countries. The declaration was signed on Friday in Britain between the Minister of Defence of Kosovo, Armend Mehaj and the Minister of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, James Heappey.

According to the Kosovo authorities, the signing of the agreement on the engagement of the troops of both countries in joint missions "strongly reaffirms the full reliability of the United Kingdom and its Government in our Ministry of Defence and the capacities of our forces".

Outside Great Britain, the British military is engaged in training operations or peacekeeping operations in Africa, Belize, Brunei, Canada, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Iraq, Mali and other countries.

In addition to Britain, Kosovo already has an agreement with the United States for the joint engagement of military forces in various missions. As a result of this cooperation, Kosovo, in cooperation with the American forces, sent a contingent of the Kosovo Security Forces to Kuwait in March.

This was the first mission abroad of this force. The transformation of KSF (Kosovo Security Force) into armed forces started in 2018. This process is expected to last ten years.
