The minimum wage in Albania is the lowest in Europe when measured by price levels and the real purchasing power of income. According to data published by Eurostat and analyzed by Euronews Business, Albania's minimum wage is estimated at only 705 Purchasing Power Standard (PPS) units, the lowest level among the European countries for which data are available.

At the other end of the ranking is Germany, where the minimum wage reaches 2,164 PPS, more than three times Albania's level. It is followed by Luxembourg with 2,108 PPS, the Netherlands with 2,023 PPS, Belgium with 1,922 PPS, and Ireland with 1,756 PPS.

The PPS indicator is used to overcome the limitations of comparing wages solely in euros. It takes into account differences in price levels between countries and shows how many goods and services a wage can actually purchase.

In theory, one PPS unit should buy the same quantity of goods and services in every country. For this reason, rankings based on purchasing power provide a more accurate picture of real living standards than wages converted into euros alone.
