Minister Commemorates 30th Anniversary of RENEA Officer's Death
Interior Minister Taulant Balla participated in the memorial ceremony of the first martyr of the RENEA special forces, Arben Ujka this Tuesday in Shkodër.
During the ceremony, Balla stated that he will implement a new criminal policy against those who oppose the police.
Minister Balla emphasizes that "if someone dares to hit a police officer because of his duty, that person risks up to five years in prison".
"If you oppose a police officer with the intention of preventing him from performing his duty according to the law, the penalty is up to one year in prison. And this crime, when committed in cooperation or by exercising physical violence or more than once, can be punished with imprisonment of up to seven years. If someone dares to hit a police officer on duty, that person risks up to five years in prison. Then for more serious criminal offenses against a police officer, the Penal Code is tough as it should be", stated Balla.
