Ministry Updates Floods Situation Around Albania

After two days of intense rain, the Ministry of Defense announced that the situation has returned to normal in the districts that were affected by the floods. 

According the Ministry, there is no water in the homes in Shkodra district, as it emphasizes that the citizens have returned to their homes. Currently, into water are only 4 apartments in Lezha. Civil emergency forces have distributed 450 food packages to the municipalities of Pukë, Vau i Dejës and Lezhë. 

Among other things, the Ministry announced that road axes throughout the country are currently passable. 

"According to the latest data from the National Operational Center of Civil Emergencies (AKMC), the situation in the districts affected by floods as a result of the rains appears normalized. There have been low-intensity rains from time to time, which have not affected the deterioration of the situation. In the district of Shkodra, there is no water in any residence. As a result, residents have returned to their homes, reducing the number of evacuations. While in Lezha, there is water in 4 apartments. The civil emergency forces are on standby and helping the residents, distributing humanitarian aid as well. Meanwhile, 450 food packages were distributed to the municipalities of Pukë, Vau i Dejës and Lezhë. Currently, the level of all rivers is below the critical level. But the situation will be monitored continuously in the following hours. Road axes throughout the country appear generally free for vehicle traffic. The Armed Forces, the State Police, the employees of the local government and the medical service will remain on the ground during the following hours for every need of the citizens," stated the Ministry.
