Opposition MPs Intensify Outreach Ahead of Monday’s Nationwide Protest in Tirana
Opposition MPs of Democratic Party spent Sunday on the ground across several districts of Tirana, stepping up their meetings with citizens ahead of Monday’s protest planned in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Throughout the day, party representatives held discussions with residents and business owners, highlighting what they described as years of accumulated frustration, ongoing government scandals, and a deepening political and economic crisis affecting every layer of society.
In Administrative Unit No. 10, MP Elda Hoti, accompanied by Klevis Balliu, met with local citizens, urging them to join Monday’s 18:00 protest. Their message focused on what the opposition calls widespread misgovernance, corruption, and links between those in power and organized crime.
Meanwhile, MP Jorida Tabaku directed her outreach toward businesses, raising concerns over heavy tax burdens and what she said was a persistent climate of corruption during the past 12 years of Socialist Party governance.
In Unit 9, MP Belind Këlliçi also held meetings with residents, emphasizing what he described as growing public readiness to take to the streets. According to him, the political and social situation has reached a critical point, fueled by repeated scandals and widespread dissatisfaction with the current government.
The intensified activity comes a day before what opposition figures have called “the storm,” as they prepare for a large-scale protest expected to draw significant nationwide participation.
