Police and Firefighters Rescue Man Trapped in Ravine for Eight Hours

A 48-year-old man was rescued after spending approximately eight hours trapped in a ravine in the Mallakastër area, following a coordinated operation by Albanian police and firefighters, authorities said Wednesday.

According to the Albanian State Police, emergency teams immediately organized an operation to locate, reach and extract the man after he became trapped in the ravine.

Authorities identified the man by his initials, F. S., and said he lost his balance while attempting to repair an irrigation water pipe, causing him to fall into the ravine.

Police said the successful rescue was made possible through close cooperation between local police officers and the Mallakastër firefighting service, who worked together despite the challenging circumstances.

The man reportedly sustained several bodily injuries during the incident. Following his rescue, he was transported to a hospital to receive the necessary medical treatment.
