Police Give Information on Private Plane Crash

Shkodra police provide details about the plane crash in the Kelmendi area on Monday. Police say the two-seater sports plane crashed about 800m from the border with Montenegro and no illegal items were found inside. 

Police notification: 

On 04.10.2021, at 12:30, in the operating room of the Commissariat of Malësia e Madhe, Shkodra, a call came that in the village of Velipoja, Vermosh, Kelmend Administrative Unit, Malësia e Madhe municipality, a sports plane had crashed. 

Upon receiving the notification, the Police Services and the Director of the Local Police Directorate of Shkodra immediately went to the given address to verify the information, and an investigative group was set up, under the direction of the Shkodra Judicial District Prosecutor's Office. 

From the first investigative actions and from the inspection of the scene, it results that in an air line about 800 m from the border with Montenegro, it was found that a two-seater sports aircraft, gray, 6 m long, 10.5 m wide, wing length 4.7 m and cabin width 1.1 m, crashed and damaged. In this plane, no distinguishing marks were found such as: flag, documents of origin or any other identification document. 

Also, during the detailed control carried out by the investigative group inside the aircraft, no illegal items were found. 

In cooperation with neighbouring countries, Montenegro and Kosovo, work is underway to determine the flight route followed by this aircraft, identify the pilots and other persons involved. 

The investigative group, under the direction of the Shkodra Judicial District Prosecutor's Office, continues the investigative actions to identify the vehicle that picked up and removed the pilots from the scene, as well as to determine the causes of the crash.
