Police Remove Protesters and Symbolic Display Outside PM's Office
Police cleared a group of protesters from outside Albania's Prime Minister's Office in Tirana on Sunday afternoon, removing demonstrators who had spent the previous night outside the government building.
Following the operation, officers also removed dozens of shoes placed on the building's steps as part of a symbolic installation. Protesters said the shoes represented young Albanians who have left the country due to emigration.
"Don't touch the shoes. This is the theft of the people's will. Don't interfere with the artwork placed by the people. This is public property," one protester was heard saying through a megaphone as police cleared the display.
The incident comes ahead of what organizers have described as the 29th protest in Tirana. The demonstrations, which began as a response to events in Zvërnec, have since expanded into broader anti-government rallies, with protesters calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
No immediate information was available on arrests or injuries following Sunday's police operation.
