President Bajram Begaj has formally decreed the dismissal of Vlora Hyseni as Director of the State Intelligence Service (SHISH), following a proposal from Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The move comes just hours after Rama signaled on social media platform X that Hyseni would be removed immediately, promising that a new intelligence chief will be appointed upon his return to Tirana.

According to the presidential decree, the decision was made under Article 93 of the Constitution and Article 5 of the law governing SHISH. The dismissal marks a significant shake?up in Albania’s security leadership, raising questions about the government’s next steps in appointing a successor.
