Serbian Army in High Combat Readiness Near Kosovo Border

The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia, General Milan Mojsilovic, with his closest collaborators, visited Friday the part of the Serbian Army engaged in the control of the Land Security Zone and the security of the border line with Kosovo.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Defense of Serbia, General Mojsilovic has inspected the level of combat readiness of the Armed Forces of Serbia in the area of ??the military bases 'Tabalije' and 'Rudnica' and their ability to react quickly in case of need and to guarantee peace and security in this part of the country.

"In light of the recent events in our 'southern province' caused by the unilateral movements of the 'temporary institutions of self-government in Pristina', General Mojsilovic expressed his satisfaction with the high combat readiness of the forces of the Serbian Armed Forces and the fact that the Soldiers and officers engaged are ready, motivated and trained to perform any task assigned by the homeland of Serbia", it is stated in the announcement.

According to the announcement, during the visit to the bases in the Ground Security Zone, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces was accompanied by generals who are in high positions in the hierarchy of the Serbian army.

During the events that took place in the north of Kosovo, namely on the Kosovo-Serbia border after warnings from the Government of Kosovo that from August 1, the implementation of reciprocity with Serbia for license plates and IDs would begin, it was reported that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had visited the Headquarters of General in Bajnica, in order to a decision to react to the tensions created in the north of Kosovo.

However, Thomas Theiner, a former member of the Italian army and "expert on Cold War issues" and the Alliance's defense strategy, a day after the developments in northern Kosovo, where the Serbs set up barricades, opposing the measure of reciprocity, has said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vu?i? received a clear message from NATO through a General Staff officer on Sunday evening.

"I think that the officers of the General Staff of Serbia last night explained to President Vu?i? that if he dares to attack Kosovo, NATO warplanes will react within a few hours," Theiner initially wrote on Twitter.
