Serbian President’s Agenda in ‘Open Balkans’ Meet Unveiled

Next meeting of the "Open Balkan" initiative, which will be held in Ohrid of North Macedonia will take place this Tuesday and on Wednesday.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and North Macedonia's Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski will be present there as part of the regional initiative.

In the meantime, the Serbian media have revealed President Vucic's agenda. In addition to meeting in the framework of the Open Balkans Initiative, Vucic will hold face-to-face meetings with the Prime Ministers of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dritan Abazovic and Zoran Tegeltija.

During the summit, Vucic will also attend plenary sessions on tourism and culture, as well as the signing of an agreement on co-operation in education, a memorandum of understanding and co-operation between tax administrations and a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism and culture.

Although he has not joined the Open Balkans, Dritan Abazovic confirmed his participation, but he will be just like President Djykanovic at the Tirana summit of 2019 simply in the role of observer, as Montenegro has not yet officially made the decision to join the "Open Balkans".

Meanwhile, Rama, Vucic and Kovaceski will sign 4 agreements as part of the 3-party cooperation. More important is the joint obligation to fight tax evasion in the 3 states.

The other 3 agreements are related to the mutual recognition of students' diplomas, as well as cooperation in the tourism and culture sectors. The summit will be joined virtually by EU Enlargement Commissioner, Oliver Varhelyi.
