Serbian Writer Urges Own Country to Recognize Kosovo

Although there is no policy of recognition of Kosovo in Serbia, it is necessary for the Serbian society to face this issue, some of the authors of the new edition of "Buletini Stanar", which deals with the subject of Kosovo, told RTK, analyzing whether the word recognition can be heard in Serbia without fear and in accordance with political freedoms.

Formal recognition of Kosovo by Serbia will happen sooner or later, says writer Dejan Atanackovic. As he points out, Kosovo has its own parliament, government and executive power throughout the territory, and with the consent of Serbia, a series of signed agreements, which speaks of an issue of status officially resolved.

"The point is not that we should recognize the independence of Kosovo, but to recognize the Serbian reality and part of this reality is that Kosovo is an indisputable state. What is particularly important for Serbian society is the moment of formal recognition, something that will definitely happen sooner or later and it is not unimportant who will make the formal recognition and in what way", says Atanackovic.

Atanackovic is one of the authors of the latest edition of "Buletin Stanar", of the Group for Conceptual Politics, dedicated to a topic that is considered undesirable in Serbia: "Is it possible to think about recognizing Kosovo if you are a Serb?"

According to Atanackovic, Serbia must understand that Kosovo's independence is a logical result of the disastrous Serbian policy of the 90s.

"It is a policy with which the Serbian society has never fully faced and whose actors are still in power today", he emphasizes, adding that it is necessary to consolidate the forces gathered around the truth in Serbia, in order to explained to the citizens of Serbia why it is important to stop the policies of populism.
