Shooting in Lezha: Police Officer Killed in line of Duty

A crime police officer in Lezha was shot dead this Tuesday morning by unidentified persons who were suspected to be cannabis growers in the area. The victim is Saimir Hoxha 44-year-old who was leading an anti-cannabis operation the area of Lezha. He was part of the Police patrol that controlled the cultivation of cannabis. 

The circumstances of the murder in the north of the country are still unknown, meanwhile, RENEA special forces, as well as Rapid Intervention Forces, have deployed in Lezha to apprehend perpetrators.

At around 10:30, on Lezha Island, in still unclear circumstances, a firearm was fired at the territory control group to prevent the cultivation of narcotic plants. 

As a result, the Crimes Officer at the Lezha Police Commissariat, citizen S. H., 44 years old, was wounded with a firearm. As a result of the received wounds, he died on the way to the Lezha Regional Hospital. 

Police services have cordoned off the area in order to apprehend the perpetrator. Renea special forces, FNSH groups and a special investigative group from the General Directorate of State Police have been launched to assist the local police in order to enable the full disclosure of the circumstances of the event, the identification and apprehension of the perpetrators.
